About Amla
Meet Amla
I will never forget the day I found out I was facing blindness as a teenager. The doctors diagnosed me with an eye condition called, ‘gyrate atrophy.’ Apparently, only 200 people throughout the world, endure this particular eye condition.
I had countless questions zipping through my mind including:
Will I be a “normal student” in college and be able to physically read books?
More importantly, if I am gradually losing physical vision, who will accept me, unconditionally, “as is?”
So many questions and very few answers...
Little did I know that this was all a part of the divine plan. Eventually over time, I was able to learn how to wholeheartedly “see,” inside out, using my own intuition. That being said, never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined that I would become an author, speaker, and teacher, based on my personal journey of vision loss.
How does one cope with the highs, lows, and ongoing challenges of life?
Having partial vision, I physically do not see the same way in any given moment. As a result, I have no choice but to adapt according to the present moment. This has made me realize that being happy is an “inside job” — it’s a choice that stems from the heart no matter what the external circumstances may be.
Through my workshops and speaking engagements, I offer tips and tools for living your life authentically, by loving yourself fully.
