"Absolutely a MUST READ and an Awesome EYE OPENER
Amla Mehta’s book cleverly titled as “Eye with a View” is an honest expression of her life-shattering experiences as they unfolded at a very early age and led to a gradual loss of her eyesight. The sequences of traumatic events are articulated so vividly in each chapter as short stories that they shake us up vigorously from deep within. Her honest expression of the war between stormy thoughts and screaming emotions is simply remarkable! Amla cleverly steers each story into sound guidance at the end of each chapter resembling a stormy and roaring ocean that turns into a calm, serene coast. Similar transformation is witnessed in her profound spiritual growth through her words of wisdom. It is absolutely a very inspirational and uplifting book for not only people suffering from similar loss or any adversity but for everyone. It is very clear that Amla has poured her whole heart into this book. Eye with a View book is a naked truth about loss of her eyesight and yet a very effective eye opener for all of us. Let us all learn from Amla to make lemonade if and when the life gives us a lemon."
"I just finished reading this book and it was both difficult and wonderful to read. It is written very well and Amla's story is very difficult. As I was reading, I kept thinking how healing it must have been for her to write this book. I have never had the opportunity to walk in the shoes of someone with disbilities and it was both fascinating and painful, my heart hurt for her more than once realizing what she has walked through. I have had the chance to speak with Amla a few times and I knew of her oncoming blindness before I read her book, but to walk beside her in her journey left me feeling so happy that she wrote her story. She clearly is strong and articulate and has a light inside of her that shines brightly. Do yourself a favor and read this book. The tools that she offers to get through challenging times are all helpful and easy to use. I am grateful that I read this book, thank you Amla."
"What a great read! This book is deeply honest and brings hope to anyone who is struggling with a disease or disability in their life. This is the authors personal story of being diagnosed with a rare degenerative condition that would slowly take away her eye sight and throw her life into chaos. The author takes you with her from her devastating diagnosis to the ups and downs of her learning to navigate the world without vision. You are with her when she’s at her lowest and most hopeless and with her as she comes to a deep understanding of how self-care techniques help her (and us) to rethink, reorder and take charge of life. This book is an inspiration for anyone who has been brought to their knees by Life’s random cruelties. Amla Mehta is an inspiration and her journey is a reminder to people that you can find your own way out of the depths of despair to “Shine Love, Shine Light, Shine You!”
"This is an amazing book Amla wrote. I have the privilege having known her for most of her life but it is only when I started reading this book did I realize what a superb job she has done. She employs honestly, humor and certain cultural traits in conveying her message. It is a must read. Read it today!"
"Amla's raw storytelling of her personal journey through a slow progression of vision loss gives an open view of what life with a disability can be like. Her setbacks followed by her search for courage are an inspiration. Each chapter is nicely themed as she walks you through her life experiences, giving words to the challenges she faced and what she learned from each challenge. I especially liked the exercises she wrote at the end of each chapter. Every adult or teen facing something that feels bigger than themselves should read this."
"The book “Eye with a view” is a candid account of author’s journey through life navigating her gradual external vision loss. It is both inspirational and enlightening. It shares wisdom gained through lessons of life but remains light hearted and never preachy. Written as twelve short stories. Each story explores the depth and the collection the width of her journey. She is a gifted writer transcending the story above the limitations of language. I am sure every reader will gain insight through author’s glimpses."
