I will never forget the day I found out I was facing blindness as a teenager. The doctors diagnosed me with an eye condition called, ‘gyrate atrophy.’ Apparently, only 200 people throughout the world, endure this particular eye condition. I had countless questions zipping through my mind including: Will I be a “normal student” in college and be able to physically read books? More importantly, if I am gradually losing physical vision, who will accept me, unconditionally, “as is?”
